FUTURE EVENTS Winfield High School Band Boosters will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee's, Teays Valley. Take Exit 39 of Interstate 64. The cost is $5. Tickets are available from Winfield High School members and can be purchased at the door. Proceeds will benefit the high school band.

Mobile Office of Gov. Cecil Underwood will make a stop at 2 p.m. Saturday at the West Virginia Coal Festival Parade, upper end of Main Street, near Corky's Flower Shop in Madison.

The American Quarter Horse Association will host the NWVQHA Summer Shows on June 17-18, July 1-2, July 8-9, July 22-23 and Aug. 27 at the Winfield Riding Club in Winfield. For more information, call David C. Wymer at 586-4296.

Kanawha County Parks and Recreation will sponsor an introduction to Volkswalking by the Riverfront Ramblers Walking Club from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Coonskin Park. Registration will be held at the clubhouse.

West Virginia State College will offer free swimming lessons for pre-school through adult beginning Monday in Burris Natatorium in Fleming Hall. The first session will be held June 19-29 for ages 3-5 at 6 p.m. and from 6:30 to 7:15 pm. for ages 6-12. The second session will be held from July 10-20 for ages 3-5 from 6 to 6:30 p.m., ages 6-12 from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., and ages 13 and up from 7:15 to 8 p.m. The American Red Cross Safety Instructors will conduct the lessons.
